Terre Haute German Oberlandler Club

Das Haus

In the early days, Club members met at American Legion Post 40, the Deutsch Bierstube, and the Kerman Groto. However, in mid-March 1976 the Club purchased Carosi’s Italian Village at 1616 Lafayette Ave in Terre Haute for $60,000. Just three years later, in 1979, the 15-year mortgage was paid off and “burned” during a brief ceremony at the November membership meeting.

Over the years our dedicated and hard working members have renovated, remodeled and expanded our Das Haus to better accommodate members and guests. Today, our clubhouse provides a family friendly environment for gemeinschaft (fellowship), meetings, dinners, receptions, and parties. It has a commercial kitchen, a quaint full-service bar, dance floor, state-of-the-art sound system, and seating for up to 125 people. In addition, we have a 30’ x 70’ covered pavilion available for special events during the spring, summer and fall.
